Vaginal Rejuvenation

Women with an asymmetrical or enlarged labia minora may feel uncomfortable with the appearance of their genitalia. The extra skin and folds may even be the cause of physical discomfort or painful intercourse. Vaginal rejuvination or Labiaplasty is a procedure which reshapes the labia minora by removal of excess skin while maintaining normal colour and labial edge.

An asymmetrical or enlarged labia minora may be a result of:

  • Genetics
  • Hormones
  • Friction or irritation
  • Childbirth

Surgery

The procedure is performed under a general anaesthetic (you will be put to sleep) at our day hospital facility. Once you have been admitted, the procedure takes around 30 minute to complete. You will spend another 2 -3 hours waking up in recovery before you are discharged home.

Recovery

Most patients describe the pain as mild aches which is usually controlled with oral pain medication prescribed by Dr Chinsee. There may be mild swelling which resolves within 2 weeks. Due to increase blood supply to the vagina, incisions are usually quick to heal and scarring is minimal. Women are required to avoid excessive exercise for 4 weeks, and vaginal intercourse for 6 weeks.
