What Is Involved With A Mummy Makeover?

A Mummy Makeover is not a standard or routine procedure and is required to be tailored specifically to the patients goals and desires. It can include as little as two treatments, or as many as five and may include:

Recovery from a Mummy Makeover

Recovery varies from patient to patient. Most patients describe the pain as mild discomfort which is usually controlled with prescribed medication.

Patients will experience swelling and there may be bruising after the procedure. Major swelling usually subsides by three months, and the final results are noticeable at around the one year mark. The compression garments are required to be worn continuously for six weeks after surgery.

The majority of patients should expect to take around one to two weeks off work. Patients with office jobs can usually return to work after one week, however more physically demanding jobs will require a longer recovery period. Patients can usually return to their normal activities, including gym work by six weeks.

Patients are required to have a dressing change at one week, two weeks, and three weeks postoperatively. Out of Town Patients will be provided with a letter containing detailed dressing change instructions to give to their GP if they are unable to attend dressing change appointments at the Brisbane clinic.

Postoperative appointments will be scheduled throughout the following year. These appointments can be conducted via our Virtual Waiting Room or in person at our Brisbane clinic.

Scarring After a Mummy Makeover

Scarring depends on extensibility of work performed. Incisions are discretely placed to minimise scar visibility. Most scarring will fade over time with appropriate postoperative care.
