The Mummy Makeover is a combination surgical approach to the breasts and abdominal area. Pregnancy takes a toll on every mother, both mentally and physically. Physically, your body may have trouble returning to your pre-pregnancy physique. The Mummy Makeover is designed to tighten, tone, and restore the youthful contours of your body. To help correct:
- Sagging or deflated breasts
- Weak or separated abdominal muscles
- Protruding abdomen
- Excess abdominal fat
- Loose or sagging skin
- Stretch marks
A Mummy Makeover is not a standard or routine procedure and needs to be tailored specifically to the patient's goals and desires. It can include as little as two treatments, or as many as five. It may involve a Breast Augmentation or Lift, an Abdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck), and Liposuction.
The procedure is performed under a general anaesthetic (you will be put to sleep) at our day hospital facility. Once you have been admitted, the procedure takes around 1 – 5 hours to complete (depending on the complexity of the case). You will spend another 2 -3 hours waking up in recovery before you are sent home.
Most patients describe the pain as mild to moderate aches which are usually controlled with oral pain medication prescribed by Dr Chinsee.
You will experience swelling and bruising after your procedure, and be required to wear compression garments. Patients are advised to take 2 weeks off work, and can usually resume all normal activities (gym work) by 6 weeks. Major swelling usually subsides by 3 months, and the final result will be noticeable after 6 months.
Scarring depends on extensibility of work performed. Incisions are discretely placed to minimise scar visibility. Most scarring will fade over time with appropriate postoperative care.
Dr Chinsee's prices are fully inclusive to cover all fees associated with your procedure. Surgeon’s fee, hospital & anaesthetic fees, implant fee, Keller funnel, postoperative surgical bra, contact with a Registered Nurse after your appointment, follow up postoperative appointments for 1 year. The only item not included are the medications which will be prescribed after your procedure (totaling around $40).
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you have to be a mummy to get a mummy makeover?
No. The mummy makeover is a buzz name given to the combination approach to surgery involving the breasts and abdomin. If you would like to improve the appearance of your breasts and if you have excess abdominal skin or fat you are a good candidate for a mummy makeover.
What is the benefit of having multiple procedures done at the same time?
Time. Patients are able to recovery quicker than if they were to have the procedures done individually.
Cost: The cost of combining procedures is generally a lot less than undergoing them individually.
How long after pregnancy should I wait before I get a mummy makeover?
Dr Chinsee requests that his patients wait 6 months after pregnancy or breast feeding. It is recommended that women wait until they have finished having children as your results will last much longer if they are not stressed by pregnancy.
